The Launch of Tying Down The Lion

Signing copies of Tying Down The Lion at Waterstones, Bath

I had such a wonderful evening at the Bath branch of Waterstones, talking about Tying Down The Lion's path to publication and also the events in my life that have inspired it.

Thank you to all the kind friends and family who came along to listen and I'm very happy to say we sold out of our stock of books by the end of the evening. Many thanks to the staff at Waterstones, to all the kind, supportive friends who came along and showed such interest and enthusiasm, and to those from far and wide who sent their good wishes. My husband, Adrian, and our three daughters were all absolute stars and we stayed up far too late looking at all the pictures and talking about the event that was the pinnacle of five years of writing - and five years of the incredible support I received from them all.

Such a memorable evening - my heartfelt appreciation to Brick Lane Publishing for making it possible. I had the time of my life. Thank you everyone.

  2. Jo is a very glamorous lady, Bernadette! Her outfit was stunning! It was fabulous to meet not only Jo, but her lovely family as well as other writers I'd only previously made contact with via Twitter/Facebook/email. I felt privileged to be part of such a memorable evening. I can't wait to read Tying Down The Lion. It was so fascinating to hear how the novel came into being and how it evolved. I hope it sells in shedloads!

    1. Oh, thank you so much, Jo! What a lovely comment. Glamorous twice over - I'm thrilled! I bought the dress from Lipsy - in homage to a scene near the end of the book. I had to get it from ebay in the end and it reeked of the seller's incense! It's been hanging by an open window for weeks to air it! And was I glad to take those shoes off when I got home!
It was fabulous to meet you, Jo, after such a long online friendship. And what a start you gave me in The Yellow Room - I shall never forget it.It was a great privilege to have you there at the launch and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I had the time of my life and just wish there had been more hours left to talk with everyone afterwards. All the family really loved meeting you in person - they all know what a great support you have been.
Thank you for everything and now I really hope TDTL takes you on a entertaining journey. xxx
